[ARCHIVED] PUBLIC HEARING RE: INCENTIVES FOR PROJECT MOCKINGBIRD FOR ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT PURPOSES

Pursuant to N.C. Gen. Stat. § 158-7.1, Craven County (hereinafter “County”) intends to provide an economic development incentive for Project Mockingbird for the purpose of industrial expansion and job creation.  The County Board of Commissioners will hold a public hearing to seek public input on a grant agreement giving a cash payment to the expanding industry. Company plans to expand its existing, privately-owned 72,000 square foot industrial facility in the Craven County Industrial Park by adding 29,000 square feet of new operation space, building a second driveway into the facility for truck traffic, and making various other improvements to support its manufacturing operation. Craven County will contribute funds to offset the cost to install the second driveway. Company expects to spend approximately $1,800,000 to improve the facility. The County will use its Economic Development Reserve to provide the Grant to the Company. The County believes the proposed economic development incentives will stimulate the local economy, result in the creation of a substantial number of new permanent jobs in the county, and result in increased tax revenues to the County.  Anyone who is interested can inspect the (draft) documents available at the Economic Development offices in the Craven County Administration Building or online at http://www.cravencountync.gov.

The Craven County Board of Commissioners will hold a public hearing on these matters at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 4, 2018 in the Commissioners’ room in the Craven County Administration Building, and all interested persons are invited to attend and present their views.
