  • Town of Bridgeton with a Type 1 election method which is a nonpartisan plurality election of Mayor and 4 Commissioners  on two year terms with an election cycle every two years in even years
  • Town of Cove City with a Type 1 election method which is a nonpartisan plurality election of Mayor and 5 Aldermen on four year terms with an election cycle every four years in even years 
  • Town of Dover with a Type 1 election method which is a nonpartisan plurality election of Mayor and 5 Aldermen on two year terms with an election cycle every two years in even years 
  • City of Havelock with a Type 1 election method which is a nonpartisan plurality election of  Mayor and 5 Commissioners on four year staggered terms with an election cycle every two years in even years 
  • City of New Bern with Type 4 election method which is a nonpartisan election runoff election of Mayor and 6 Ward Aldermen on four year terms with an election cycle every four years in odd years
  • Town of River Bend with a Type 1 election method which is a nonpartisan plurality election of  Mayor  and 5 Council seats  on four year staggered terms with an election cycle every two years in even years 
  • Town of Trent Woods with  a Type 1 election method which is a nonpartisan plurality election of Mayor and 3 Commissioners on two year terms with an election cycle every two years in even years 
  • Town of Vanceboro with a Type 1 election method which is a nonpartisan plurality election of Mayor and 5 Aldermen on four year terms with an election cycle every four years in odd years
  • First Craven Sanitary District with a Type 1 election method which is a nonpartisan plurality election of 5 District member seats on four year staggered terms with an election cycle every two years in even years 

Election Dates:

The following municipality has elections in odd years and will have a delayed election on March 8, 2022 due to census.

City of New Bern-Mayor and 6 Ward Aldermen seats

FILING DATES CITY OF NEW BERN

• If City of New Bern revises the districts by November 17, 2021, the filing period is noon on December 6, 2021, through noon on December 17, 2021. 

• If they cannot revise the districts by November 17, 2021, the municipality must provide the new districts to the county board by December 17, 2021, and the filing period is noon on January 3, 2022, through noon on January 7, 2022. 

The following municipalities will have elections in even years starting November 8, 2022:

Town of Bridgeton-Mayor and 4 Commissioner seats              Town of Dover-Mayor and 5 Aldermen seats

City of Havelock-Mayor and 2 Commissioner seats                 Town of River Bend-3 Councilmen seats

Town of Trent Woods-Mayor and 3 Commissioner seats          First Craven Sanitary District-2 District Member seats

The following municipality has elections in odd years and will have an election on November 7, 2023:

Town of Vanceboro-Mayor and 5 Aldermen seats  -Does not allow any type of Absentee voting

The following municipality will have the election in even years starting November 5, 2024:

Town of Cove City-Mayor and 5 Aldermen seats
